Hello, lovahs!  It’s been too long since I’ve posted and now we’re only two days away from September!  You know what that means; it’s fashion season.  I’ve spoke of this lovely time of year before in my post – Hello, September. Wow, I’ve come a long way since my days of watching the shows online and looking up NY street style on Instagram.  Can I get a hallelujah?!  Today I would like to share with you my experience at Jeffrey Fashion Cares, which took place only a few days ago.

Jeffrey Fashion Cares is the premier fashion event of the season here in Atlanta.  This was their 26th anniversary of the runway show to benefit the Atlanta AIDS Fund, which funds HIV/AIDS projects in the metropolitan area, and Susan G. Komen Greater Atlanta which provides grants to grassroots organizations fighting breast cancer. The total amount raised is still being calculated, but this year is predicted to be the most successful yet.  Congratulations to Jeffrey Kalinsky and the event co-chairs Lila Hertz, Jeffrey McQuithy, and Louise Sams for putting on such a memorable (and noble) event.  And a shout-out to Caren West PR for their services in this event as well as their collaboration to provide you this story.

So, let’s talk about the fashion.  If you’ve been paying attention at all, you know that the current trends are a beautiful mix of many decades.  Styles have been revived from the ’70s, ’80s, and ’90s.  Plaid tailored suits reminiscent of Cher Horowitz are back (I may have one on deck for NYFW next weekend- stay tuned!).  ’90s “mom jeans”, shoulder pads, and neon psychedelic prints from the ’70s are everywhere.

So what did I wear? A 1920s inspired hand-beaded dress from my favorite store in San Francisco, Decades of Fashion.  I wrote more about this store in this post.

The looks displayed on the runway at Jeffrey Fashion Cares were curated by Jeffrey Kalinsky.  He pulled selections from top designers including Celine, Dior, Givenchy, Christian Louboutin, and Manolo Blahnik.  It was a wonderful display of all the best trends this year has to offer, by of course some of the most popular design houses in the world.

Caren West PR was kind enough to send me Jeffrey’s Fall Trend Report, which I am happy to share with you:

Jeffrey Kalinsky’s Fall Trend Forecast:

If there is one bold font message from the Fall 2018 shows, it’s that fashion is forever changing. In a world where bothmenswear and womenswear are being presented together, brands are evolving from the notion of seasonal collections.

If we had to choose one word to describe the season, it is #EMPOWERMENT. The expression of femininity came in many differentshapes and sizes. From sharp shoulder outerwear, to an array of shine and iridescent colors, Fall 18 was anything but safe.

Other notable trends we noticed on the runways:

Sparkle: Traditional sequins just don’t cut it! Your favorite knits, dresses, and coats have been transformed into exploded novelty items. The whirl of paillettes storming down the runway was hard to miss and the most shimmering jumpsuits were sent down the cat walk.

Oversize:
Enormous fashion, anyone? Don’t be afraid to layer up with 2-in-1 pieces or oversized strong shoulder outerwear reminiscent of the 80’s. Designers are delivering exciting collaborations with this trend.

Sports: Go team go! Many designers took to the sports culture, each creating their own athletic inspired merchandise.

Neon:  Not afraid of color! Fall 2018 brings you iridescent dresses that can be seen from a mile away.  On the runway, there were eye-popping neons (pink, green, and orange) in every type of fabric imaginable, including florescent infused knits.

Plaid: Plaid looked richer than ever this season. We saw perfect tailoring to strong outerwear, all featuring plaid or plaid prints.

Next year, look here to purchase tickets to this event.  In the mean time, you can shop the newest Fall trends at Jeffrey at Phipps Plaza in Atlanta.  And as always, I will continue to post my favorite looks here, inspired by these designers, in a range of affordable prices.  Follow me on Instagram for more on NYFW street style.  I will be arriving next Friday and cannot wait to show you what I’ve picked… as well as what street styles await.  Cheers!

This is a statement skirt if I’ve ever seen one.  The beige color is offset with a bright, colorful yarn stitched in a stripe pattern.  It wraps around your waist with a side tie closure and features an asymmetrical ruffle hem along the bottom.  I can wear this skirt with a number of tops in my closet, and may just pair it with a swimsuit top on an upcoming beach weekend getaway.  Here, I chose to pair it with a cotton magenta tank top.  Very simple, effortless, and cool for a hot summer’s day.

Tularosa makes beautiful designs, although sometimes a little pricey.  Pick pieces that can be worn over and over again.  This is probably my favorite summer wardrobe purchase so far this year.  I’m also loving stripes.  You can wear these midi length wrap skirts with flat sandals, like the ones I’m wearing here to dress it down, or dress it up with some espadrilles.  I’ve said it before, espadrilles are the quintessential summer shoe.  See this post for a perfect black leather pair by Michael Kors.

unique wooden watch perfect gift

I feel like I see people wearing watches less and less these days, mainly because they have been replaced with smart phones, glued to everyone’s hand. I think it’s a shame.  I love watches and have a wide variety: silver, gold, leather, and now WOOD.  When JORD reached out to me for a collaboration right before I left for Bora Bora, I thought ”now this would be perfect to style with resort wear”.  The watch arrived in a dark wood box and was engraved with the words “Eat Well, Dress Well, Travel Often”… my mantra, you might say.

I typically see these watches styled in a more classic, preppy kind of way.  But I took a different route.  I chose the Olive and Aegean watch (a light olive wood with a deep blue face) and layered it with gold bracelets.  I styled it with several outfits including linen dresses and a blue and white jumpsuit, shown here. This watch is very lightweight and can be dressed up or down, worn alone or layered with other jewelry.  I have received SO many compliments on this watch.  They make a wide variety of sizes, colors, styles, many for men and women that can be worn interchangeably.  JORD also offers free worldwide shipping and the watch comes sized for your wrist perfectly.  I believe this would make a unique gift due to their engraving capabilities (the face is large and can fit quite a bit of text), as well as a great addition to your wardrobe.

Did I mention that I’m hosting a giveaway for them?  Click here to enter a giveaway for a $100 e-gift card.  One person will win, but everyone will receive a consolation code worth 10% off once the contest is over.

What’s better than cheese and wine? Nothing.  Not the best for your teeth though, especially when you already drink as much coffee as I do.  I’ve been thinking about whitening my teeth for the longest time.  I’ve tried Crest White Strips and even strips from the dentist but I found it to be too painful on my sensitive teeth, and extremely annoying.  When I didn’t see results after a few days, I gave up.  That being said, I’ve been considering going to the dentist to have the LED treatment done… which is expensive.  So when Smile Brilliant reached out to me and asked if I would be interested in a collaboration to review their product, I was down, albeit skeptical.

I know that I’m not the only one who drinks coffee and red wine, causing years worth of stains.  Nothing that’s exteremly noticeable, but once you whiten your teeth, you’ll wonder why you waited so long…

So, here is a before and after:

Good News/Bad News:

Bad News is that my teeth were quite sensitive in the beginning, also it burned my gums at times.  I mean, come on, you’re putting a chemical in your mouth.  What do you expect?  Good news is, this did not last for long, after a week, my teeth and gums got used to it.  It’s worth it.  I’m literally wearing the whitening trays now as I type this and I can’t feel a thing.

The Process:

The process was super easy.  You will receive a package in the mail with everything you need to make your impressions, the directions are easy to follow and it only takes a few minutes.  You then mail them back in the enclosed envelope and in about a week, you will be receive your custom fitted whitening trays.

So, technically, the directions say to not drink coffee while you’re going through the whitening process, that I ignored.  So, I guess you could say that my results could have been even more intense should I have followed the rules. I put in the white trays for 45 minutes, followed by 15 minutes of the desensitizing gel every night for 11 days in a row, and I still have enough for several more days.

The Verdict:

I would definitely recommend this at-home teeth whitening kit.  The directions do say to keep in the trays anywhere from 45 minutes up to 3 hours at a time.  I can only imagine how white my teeth could have been had I kept them in for hours.  The trays are very thin and fit snug to your teeth, so it’s not uncomfortable.  I just don’t like being unable to drink anything for a couple hours.

Needless to say, I have ZERO plans to stop drinking coffee or red wine, but now that I have this at home whitening kit, I can keep my teeth pearly white and not spend a fortune at the dentist… more money for shoes.  Win-win.

The Best Part (for you):

Smile Brilliant is offering one of my readers a $149 credit – the value of their T3 Sensitive System.  Click here to enter.  All you need to provide is your name and email address.  This giveaway is open to the US, Canada, UK, and Australia.  I will announce the winner on Instagram, on July 30th and Smile Brilliant will be reaching out to fulfill your credit.  For all others, you can use coupon code LOVEFANCYPANTS  to receive a 10% discount on your order.

As always, all opinions are my own. Good luck and CHEERS (*furiously air toasts a glass of red wine)!

The Dress

It’s been over 40 years since Diane Von Furstenberg invented the infamous wrap dress.  It’s no wonder why it’s still as popular as ever. I believe that this style dress will compliment any body type.  This classic polka dot wrap dress is a timeless print and style.  I found this at DressUp Boutique for less than $50!  If you’re looking for special occasion outfit, or just wanting to spice up your wardrobe for summer, DressUp stocks new styles every week at very affordable prices.  This post features several dresses from DressUp that I wore in Greece last summer.  Unfortunately, the above is no longer available (again, styles come and go weekly), but I’ve linked some very similar ones below.

Accessories

Yellow is definitely one of the “it” colors this year.  These neon hued earrings punch up the classic black and white print to give it a funky twist for summer.  Of course, this style is sold out but Baublebar has some great alternatives at comparable prices.  The sunglasses are by Tiffany & Co. and the watch is by Kate Spade NY.  Linked below…

The Bag

Straw handbags are all the rage this summer.  It’s a great way to accessorize an outfit when at a tropical location, or bring that festive summer look to you.  This eyelash straw clutch came from Francesca’s for $38 – the eyelash design is sold out, but there are actually some prettier ones with color and the same zipper tassel still available (linked below)…

The Shoes

Similar to the dress, these Michael Kors black leather upper espadrilles are classic and could go with just about everything in my closet.  I think that these shoes are definitely a staple that you can wear for most of the year (or at least you can here in the south). Espadrilles are the essential summer shoe, laid back and comfortable enough to replace heels when you plan to do some walking.

Whether you’re shopping for resort wear, or just looking for a fun summer outfit, this ensemble can be worn for years and won’t go out of style.  The best part is that all of these pieces can be mixed in with what you already own.  What destinations are you heading to this summer?  Maybe I should pull together a beach themed shopping guide(??)  Comment below!

Cheers!
